Almost 99 percent of electronic cigarette smokers used to
smoke or is still smoking. 70 percent of these people tried several
replacements like patches, pills or gum to stop smoking. Most of these methods
didn’t work very long. Is it the nicotine that is not enough for most people?
A research in New Zealand shows that electronic cigarettes
are just as effective as patches. Yet, a lot of states don’t like to promote
e-cigarette, but do promote nicotine patches. According to most health
organizations the e-cigarette looks too much like a tobacco cigarette. That’s a
shame, because a lot of people could benefit from electronic cigarettes. On top
of that, a lot of e-cigarettes don’t even look like tobaccos anymore.
“I smoked for over twenty years”, a 50 year old salesman
says. “I tried to quit smoking since I was 35. I tried so many methods, but I
kept longing for a cigarette too much. It’s not only the nicotine what you
miss. That’s a mistake a lot of people make. It’s the moment, the feeling of
holding a cigarette: that’s something you look forward to all day. What do I
have to look forward to when I have a nicotine patch on my arm?”
The reason most quitters benefit more from e-cigarettes is
because they don’t need to forget about their smoking habit. Taking away this
habit is much heavier than take away the nicotine. When you do both, it’s
almost impossible to stay clean of tobacco cigarettes. That’s why electronic
cigarettes can help those people. They get nicotine, just like they do with a
patch, but they can still enjoy the moment of smoking an e-cigarette. “It’s the
best thing I ever started to do”, the salesman says. “It didn’t even make me
cranky when I first stopped smoking tobacco cigarettes. I still have my moments
enjoying a good smoke and since three weeks I stopped using nicotine for my
electronic cigarette!”
